The first of the cool reframes, and the first direction to drop warmth entirely. Everything Trillium says is an entry in an account: a line, a value, and the name of whoever is answerable for it — including the lines that aren’t flattering.
The device
Direction 02 makes the price visible. This one makes the whole account visible — every line of what you get, what it costs, and who performs it. The unit of design is not the number. It is the line item.
As the category writes it
“Affordable, transparent care with no hidden fees and everything included.”
Four positive assertions, nothing itemised, nothing attributable, nothing a reader could check. “No hidden fees” is a claim about the absence of something, which is the least verifiable shape a sentence can take.
On this direction
Same information, restructured until it can be argued with. Every line names who performs it, which does the three-entity separation without a disclaimer, and the total is arithmetic rather than a claim.
01 · Why this one
Trillium has to say, on every surface, that it does not practise medicine, does not dispense, does not screen patients clinically and does not decide who is eligible. Today that lives where every company puts it: in grey type at the bottom, phrased defensively, read by nobody.
This direction moves it to the middle of the page and sets it in the same type as everything else. Not as a disclaimer but as the negative column of the account — the things Trillium does not do, itemised, each with the name of the party that does. In a category where the central anxiety is who is actually responsible for this, a legible answer is worth more than another reassurance.
That is the whole argument. The visual system exists to make it possible: an account has to look like an account, which means rules, columns, aligned figures and a total. Any decorative move that breaks the alignment breaks the credibility.
02 The Price Is the Picture and 05 Open Ledger both trade on transparency, and they are not the same bet. 02 argues that one number, shown before signup, wins the category — it is a conversion argument, and the sharper of the two commercially. 05 argues that the structure of the business is the thing worth showing, which is a legitimacy argument and a slower one. If pricing is the wedge, build 02. If the problem is that people don’t know what Trillium is, build this.
02 · Palette
Every other direction in the slate pairs a ground with a contrasting accent. This one refuses to: the ground, the rules, the ink and the accent are all the same violet at different saturations. The discipline is the point — an account rendered in several colours is an account someone has been editing.
The lane matters too. The survey found mid purple occupied by one brand of thirty-five, but pale lilac grounds by five — so a lilac page with a purple accent is nearer the crowd than it looks. Pulling the whole system onto one desaturated violet axis, closer to ruled ledger paper than to lavender, puts it somewhere nobody is.
#E8E6EFPaper. The ground everywhere. Cool, low chroma, closer to ruled stock than to lilac.#F4F3F8Card. One step lighter, for raised surfaces and alternating bands. Never a border on its own.#1B1830Ink. All type, all figures, both columns of the ledger. The reverse band’s ground.#4E3F8CIris. Rules, column headers, links and the CTA. The only saturated thing on the page.#8B7FD0Lifted iris. Exists solely so the accent survives on the ink band at 4.95:1.#4A4663Muted. Secondary text at 7.2:1. Replaces grey, which would break the single-hue rule. There is no green tick and no red flag anywhere in this system, and that is deliberate rather than an omission. The negative column — what Trillium doesn’t do, what isn’t included, what a provider might decline — is set in exactly the same ink at exactly the same weight as the positive one. A ledger that colour-codes is editorialising, and the moment it editorialises it stops being evidence. Semantic colour is available only for genuine interface states: a failed payment, a form error.
03 · Typography
Public Sans is the face of the U.S. Web Design System — the typeface federal agencies use for public-facing interfaces. For a compounded-medication company whose central problem is legitimacy, setting the account in the type of a government form is not a neutral choice. It is the argument.
Newsreader carries the display sizes: a text-first serif with real optical sizing, which keeps the headlines editorial rather than promotional. The pairing reads as record and commentary — a document with a voice, not a landing page with a headline.
Everything numeric is set font-variant-numeric: tabular-nums lining-nums without exception. In a design whose credibility rests on columns lining up, a proportional figure is a bug.
04 · Photography
Every set built so far is lit by warm lamps at the end of the day. This one is the opposite and it should be: bright overcast north light, pale rooms, blue-grey shadows. The subject is the ordinary domestic act of going through what you owe — the moment a person is being their own accountant.
ReconcilingA statement, a laptop and a calculator, checked against each other. Concentration rather than pleasure — this is the expression the direction is built on, and there is no version of it that smiles.
Going through it togetherTwo people and a sorted stack of mail, one pointing at a line. The only soft smile in the set, and it belongs to the person who is being shown something rather than the one explaining.
Level, not warmDirect gaze, no smile, a folder held rather than displayed. Cool light on a pale wall. The register is competence, which is what an account asks you to trust.
Ruling a lineA pen drawn down the margin of a ruled statement. This is the brand’s own gesture photographed literally, and it is the frame that would carry the identity on its own.
A room being usedPapers in two piles, a corkboard, nobody looking at the camera. Wide enough to sit under type in the mock’s hero band without fighting it.
The object itselfAn open ruled book, squared envelopes, a calculator. The set needs frames with nobody in them, and on this direction they carry more weight than the portraits.
Of the five built so far, this is the only one that can ship without photographing a single identifiable person. Half the set is already objects and hands, and the argument is carried by the ledger rather than by faces. Where 04 Word of Mouth cannot run on synthetic imagery and 03 needs a real team shoot, 05 could launch on still life and licensed stock while a proper shoot is scheduled — which makes it the cheapest of the five to get live.
05 · The website
The live sequence, with the account opened in the hero instead of a value proposition, and one section added that only this direction can carry: the negative column. Rules draw themselves in as each block arrives, the nav lifts on scroll, and every figure is tabular so nothing shifts as the totals land.

“What Trillium doesn’t do” is the strongest section in this direction and the one most likely to be softened into uselessness by the first review. It is worth agreeing up front that the list ships in plain language or the direction doesn’t ship at all — a hedged negative column is just a disclaimer that has been moved up the page.
The mock states $0 shipping with cold chain included and $0 membership fee. The membership figure matches the live site; the shipping line I have inferred from the plan structure and it needs confirming against the Bask product directory, because on this direction an unverified line is worse than on any other — the entire device asserts that these numbers are checkable. The $133/mo Tirzepatide starter figure is still not published anywhere and needs the same confirmation.
Nothing here uses the recommend-rate number, the dispute count, the internal competitor comparison, or the service-posture line pending sign-off. The ledger only ever carries figures that come from the product directory or the live site, which is why it routes around the frozen entries by construction rather than by choice.
