Trillium Index.

Not the cheapest and not the friendliest — the one that has it all organised. This direction argues that the category’s real gap is a reference: somewhere a person can look up what actually applies to them and get a straight answer.

The device

“Available in all 50 states” is true and useless.

Every competitor says it. None of them tells you what it means where you live — and in this category it means genuinely different things, because some states require a phone call with a provider before a first prescription and most do not.

As the category writes it

“Licensed providers available in all 50 states. Get started in minutes.”

A national claim that resolves to nothing personal. The reader in Louisiana and the reader in Oregon are told the same sentence, and one of them is going to be surprised later.

On this direction

StateFirst visitWhat that means
LouisianaPhone call requiredA brief call with the provider before a first prescription, and at each visit.
GeorgiaCall on the first visitRenewals after that can be handled asynchronously.
OregonNo call neededThe whole intake and review happens in writing.

Same fact, made specific. The amber tab marks the row you looked up — the only job that colour has anywhere in this system.

01 · Why this one

Trillium already owns more organised information than it publishes.

A product directory with real prices by medication and dose. A pharmacy directory. State-by-state visit requirements. Plan structures. Almost none of it is on the website in a form anyone can look something up in — it exists internally, as operational data, while the public site says the same national sentences as everyone else.

The proposition is to publish the index. Not more copy about transparency, but the actual lookup: what applies where, what costs what, what happens next. It is the only direction in the slate whose central asset Trillium already has and simply hasn’t shown.

It also aims squarely at one persona. The researcher who opens fourteen tabs and builds a comparison before buying anything is currently underserved by every brand in this category, and is exactly the person a reference beats a mood board with.

Where it sits against 02 and 05

Three transparency directions, three different objects. 02 shows one number, before signup — a conversion argument. 05 shows one transaction in full, itemised with who performs each line — a legitimacy argument. 06 shows the whole set: many states, many options, comparable. It is the only one of the three that gives a reason to come back to the site before deciding, which makes it the strongest for organic search and the weakest for a quick conversion.

02 · Palette

Petrol carries the structure. Amber only ever says “you are here.”

Petrol and deep teal are a zero-occupancy lane in the 35-brand survey. The trap next door is eucalyptus and sage, the most crowded family in health — so every value in this system runs blue over green (B ≥ G > R). A pale green-grey ground would have walked straight into the crowd.

The amber does one job. At 1.70:1 on the ground it is unreadable as text at any size, which settles the argument before taste gets involved: it can never be a word, a link or a heading. What it can be is a mark — a tab on the row you searched for, an underline on the section you are in, a filled cell with ink type on it at 7.08:1. One amber mark per view. A second one and it stops meaning position.

#DCE8E9Paper. Blue-green, not sage. The ground everywhere except the index bands.
#EEF4F4Sheet. Alternating index rows and raised surfaces. Never a border on its own.
#0F4E5CPetrol. Rules, column headers, the CTA fill, and the ground of the index band.
#0B2A31Ink. All body type at 12.06:1, and the announcement bar.
#E8A44CAmber. Locator only. Never text, never a CTA, never decoration. One per view.
#3F5C63Muted. Secondary text at 5.74:1. Stays on the blue-green axis rather than going grey.

The trap this palette is one step away from

Pale blue-green sits directly beside the busiest colour in the category. The three things keeping it out: the ground is blue-biased rather than yellow-biased, the structure colour is a genuinely deep petrol rather than a mid sage, and there is a warm accent doing a job no wellness brand gives it. Drop any one of those and this becomes the ninth eucalyptus brand in the survey.

03 · Typography

A width axis, used where a reference book uses one.

Bricolage Grotesque is variable on width from 75% to 100%. Reference works have always set running heads, column labels and table furniture narrower than their body text, because that is exactly where horizontal space runs out. Here every piece of chrome is condensed and every headline is not — the same typeface doing two jobs, which is what the axis is for.

First visit

font-stretch: 100% — the default. Correct for headlines and anything with room to breathe.

First visit

font-stretch: 75% — the same weight, narrowed. Buys roughly a fifth of the line back, which is what makes a three-column index legible on a phone.

Literata takes all reading copy. It was drawn for long-form reading on screen, and a reference that people actually read needs a body face built for paragraphs rather than a grotesque stretched to fill them. The pairing is the shape of the page: a systematic face for the apparatus, a book face for the prose.

Looking something up.

A third light register, deliberately: not the warm lamps of 01, 03 and 04, and not the flat high-key overcast of 05. This set is crisp directional daylight with defined shadows — the clarity a reference implies. The action is always comparison or lookup, never a transaction.

Two sheets, side by sideThe direction’s core gesture. Not reading one thing — weighing two. Deliberate, unhurried, nobody performing satisfaction.

Thumb indexA tabbed reference open at a marked page. This is the brand’s own object photographed literally, and the amber locator on the site is the same idea in software.

Level and unhurriedDirect gaze, laptop closed, hands still. The register is someone who has finished checking rather than someone being sold to.

The phone call, humanisedSome states require a brief call before a first prescription, and this direction is the only one that says so on the homepage. Worth having an image of it that looks ordinary rather than clinical.

Sorted, not styledA long table, materials in labelled rows, two people working and neither looking up. Wide enough to carry type in the mock’s hero band.

One pulled forwardA row of identical binders with a single one out of line — the whole thesis in a still life, and the frame that could carry the identity on a billboard with no type at all.

Lean into

  • Crisp directional daylight with clean, defined shadows. Clarity is the mood.
  • Comparison as the action — two of something, being weighed.
  • Organisational objects: tabs, labelled spines, sorted rows, one thing pulled forward.
  • Neutral temperature. Neither the warm sets nor 05’s cool one.
  • Composure and concentration. This is the least emotional set in the slate and should be.
  • Casting spread across age and race, with at least one frame carrying no person.

Avoid

  • Anything that reads as a call centre — headsets, banks of desks, a smiling agent.
  • Maps of the United States. The state index is the idea; a map is the clip-art of it.
  • Pharmacy interiors or compounding benches. Trillium is not the pharmacy.
  • Legible text on any page, label or screen. A readable line invents a claim.
  • Screens showing a mocked interface. It dates the set the week the UI changes.
  • Bodies as evidence. No waist crops, no isolated abdomens, arms or chins.
  • Warm lamplight, which belongs to the other tier and undoes the reframe.
Why the still lifes carry more here than the portraits

A reference doesn’t have a face. The two strongest frames in this set are a tabbed book and a shelf with one binder pulled forward, and both would work as the whole identity with type over them. That makes 06 the second-cheapest direction to launch after 05 — the people are useful but not load-bearing, which is the opposite of 04.

06 · Consequences

What choosing this commits you to

AreaConsequence
MaintenanceState telehealth rules change, and a published index that is out of date is worse than no index — it is a specific wrong answer given to a specific person. This needs an owner and a review cadence before it ships, not after.
Source of truthThe state table, the prices and the pharmacy options all have to read from the systems that hold them rather than from hand-written copy. Like 05, this direction has an engineering prerequisite; unlike 05, the data is spread across more than one place.
Scope creepAn index invites more of itself. Once states are published, the obvious next asks are pharmacies, doses, ingredient sourcing and shipping windows. That is either a content strategy or a slow leak of effort, and it is worth deciding which before launch.
SearchThe strongest organic-search position of any direction in the slate. “Do I need a phone call for a GLP-1 prescription in Georgia” is a real query with no good answer on the internet, and this direction answers it. Slowest to convert, best to be found.
ToneSystematic and cool. It will read as competent rather than warm, which suits the researcher and is the wrong first impression for someone arriving anxious. Warmth has to come from photography and support copy.
CoralRetired. Petrol takes structure and amber takes position, and neither can substitute for a warm universal CTA. Existing ad and social templates do not survive.
PhotographyLight. The two strongest frames have no people in them; the identity survives on still life while a shoot is scheduled.
AccessibilityInk on paper 12.06:1, petrol as text 7.40:1, white on petrol 9.27:1. The one hard constraint is that amber fails as text at 1.70:1, so it must never be a word — which the system already turns into its central rule.
🚩 Compliance flag — the index has to be verified before it is public

The state list in the mock comes from Trillium’s own compliance reference: always-sync in DC, Louisiana, Mississippi and Puerto Rico; sync on the first visit in Arkansas, Georgia, New Mexico, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and North Dakota; asynchronous elsewhere. Publishing that turns an internal note into a public statement about regulatory requirements, so it needs checking against current law by whoever is accountable for it, and re-checking on a schedule. The copy is written so the requirement is attributed to the state and administered by the provider group, never presented as a Trillium rule — that framing has to survive editing.

📌 Decision needed — how far does the index go?

States are the safest and most useful first entry. Pharmacies are the obvious second and a different kind of decision: naming partner pharmacies publicly is a commercial and relationship question, not a design one, and pharmacy partner decisions sit with Casy. Worth settling the scope before this is built, because an index that launches with one table and never gains a second reads as an abandoned feature.

What it does with the frozen figures

Nothing here uses the recommend-rate number, the dispute count, the internal competitor comparison, or the service-posture line pending sign-off. The $133/mo Tirzepatide starter figure is the same construction the live site uses for Semaglutide’s $86 and is still not published anywhere, so it needs confirming before it reaches a real page.
